Is Quality Bed Linen Worth The Extra Cost?
Bed linen of all colours, materials and quality are available to us as consumers at varying prices. Usually people are happy to stay with cheaper bedding as opposed to stumping up big bucks. Some are prepared to push the boat out in the hope that the extra cost will provide them with comfort. Can this extra cost really be justified?
Textiles
The material from which it is made is of course the deciding factor over how expensive bed linen is. The cheaper option is usually cotton, with satin and silk offering a more luxurious choice.
Luxury
Although most feel that satin and silk provide a real cosiness to the bedroom, it should be noted that both materials drape naturally, clinging to your body. If you are someone that doesn’t like to be restricted in their movement whilst in bed then there are other options. That doesn’t mean that you can’t treat yourself, with high thread cotton bedding offering superb comfort. And when you think how long we spend sleeping, comfort in our bed linen is a priority.
Length of use
When buying bedding we must also consider how long it will last. There is no point investing a lot of money only to find that the sheets begin to deteriorate quickly. Thankfully you do tend to get what you pay for and more expensive bed linen will last longer, with quality cotton sheets getting softer the more that you wash them and silk and satin sets lasting for several years.
In summary the amount you opt to spend on your bedding really depends on your preference and circumstances. If you have always gone for the cheaper option and never suffered from lack of sleep then you may wish to keep on being frugal. Yet if you constantly find yourself tossing and turning at night, quality bedding may be the right step for you.
